(1) A qualified appraiser is someone who:
- has earned an appraisal designation from a recognized professional appraiser organization or has otherwise met minimum education and experience requirements prescribed by Treasury regulations;
- regularly performs appraisals for which the individual receives compensation;
- can demonstrate verifiable education and experience in valuing the type of property subject to the appraisal;
- has not been prohibited from practicing before the IRS at any time during the three years preceding the appraisal;
- meets any other requirements prescribed by Treasury regulations
- according to the IRS
(2) An accredited appraiser is someone who:
- Satisfies Member level requirements and demonstrates knowledge in their field through education or specialty expert work in that field.
- When the Schanneps are not appraising or consulting clients, they run Tucson’s oldest and best antique mall. They co-created, developed, and manage a 7,500 square foot retail store where multiple dealers and consignors place their antiques and collectibles for sale to the public.
- General responsibilities include managing all phases of day to day operations. They assist dealers and consignors in researching their antiques and collectibles, and advise in pricing and assist in display. They also perform sales duties and assist customers.
- The American Antique Mall has been home to over 500 antique dealers, dozens of employees, and has retailed and wholesaled millions of dollars of merchandise since 1993.
